Brainard International Raceway--Spring 2000

This was the club's first BIR event this year. The weather was absolutely perfect for both days--partly cloudy with a strong cool breeze helping our cars go even faster down the 1 mile long straight. Many thanks to Barb and Keith Avise for coordinating the event. They did another great job! Also, thanks to the many other club members who helped out. The event ran smoothly with only a few off track excursions: Instructors: 2, Students: 1. No wrecked cars and no bent sheet metal. We all had a great time. This was my first time at the track with my e30 m3. I simply could not be happier with the car. What a great track car! The car ran perfect but the brakes and alignment could use some help. I wore down the outside edge of my left front tire so much I had to rotate the left side for the second day. I only ran 2 sessions the next day because of the ugly tire wear I was experiencing. I will not drive the track again without more negative camber on the left front. My Bridgestone SO-2 tires cost too damn much to be wearing them like that. Any suggestions on how much negative camber to put there? Thanks to Mark Link, I was able to drive the event with PF-Z rated pads. The pads held up well with very little wear, but they did not provide the stopping power the car needs. Mark had PF 90s in his e30 m3 which stopped the car much better and also wore down very little. Travis Mjolsnes didn't need any help in the brake department as he has the Brembo big brake kit on his e30 m3. This might just be my next modification to my car.  Click on the links below to see some pictures taken at this event.
